Meet the Founder

Hi, I'm Jacquie

Ourson was founded in 2022 when my 6 month old started sitting up - he was wobbly, and kept hitting his head on our hardwood floors. I wanted a playmat that would be comfortable to sit on, and would cushion his falls. I also felt like my home was slowly being overtaken by baby products, and I wanted something that felt like my style and would fit in with my home decor.

After lots of searching, I couldn’t find anything that I loved, and so I decided to make my own - the Reversible Padded Play Mat was born!

Behind Our Name

The name "Ourson" means bear cub in french, which is our family nickname for our son.

We also love that while Ourson means bear cub, it also spells "our son" - our inspiration for starting this company. Fast forward two years, and we’ve grown to offer a variety of play mats and nursery accents in our beautiful, classic prints. We are so honoured to be part of your homes, and to be a small part of the magic of baby milestones and childhood play.
